Gold Bullion Bars - May 27, 2009

Gold bullion bars have been a favorite to investors around the world because the metal is seen as the ultimate hedge from both inflation and deflation during unstable economic times. As you may already know, gold bullion bars are the most popular type of precious metal investment because unlike coins, they are widely used as a backup to fiat currency by large banks and financial institutions. As far as household investing is concerned, I typically recommend bullion bars to those who seek short-term profit instead of long-term wealth preservation because bullion tends to be a little bit more volatile than the more preservative investment-grade certified rare coins. The reason I say this is because bars trade very closely with the daily market spot price of gold, which basically means that any sudden movement in the spot price will affect the overall value of your investment.

There are many different types of gold bullion bars available for investment purposes, and some of the more popular are the Johnson Matthey, Credit Suisse and Pamp Suisse. Out of all these bars, I personally love the Pamp Suisse varieties because they are considered the “Gold Dream” due to their distinct and intricate Swiss design. It’s very important that you understand that all bullion bars are made of pure 24 karat gold, plus the more visually appealing products like they Pamp Suisse bars usually hold a slightly higher premium than the more popular yet less visually appealing Credit Suisse and Johnson Matthey bars.
